I recently bought three used Cisco 3550. Two of them worked, but one just boots to switch:

So what I think it is and this is where I need someones input is the USB to serial adapter. I have the Switch hooked up to a windows server 2012 R2 thats sitting next to them and the adapter im using came with the switches. I can navigate the IOS with the serial connection, but anything over 9600 gives me odd characters. I'm thinking I should just spend the money and get a decent usb to serial connector.
